Amy has a Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy and a Master’s in Education Administration. Her 35-year career has been dedicated to children, healthy marriages, and families. Prior to serving the greater Fort Wayne area for the past 16 years as a Marriage & Family Therapist, Amy devoted her time teaching in both public and private schools, coaching, public speaking, and serving in administrative leadership in the non-profit sector. She counsels the lifespan emphasizing family systems within a wellness model that addresses mind, body, and spiritual needs. Amy specializes in anxiety disorders, is a credentialed EMDR therapist, and a certified Trauma Consultant in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. Amy has a passion for working with people who are seeking a healthier, purpose-filled life, empowering families, and individuals, working with survivors of traumatic life events and exploring faith issues. She speaks at a variety of professional, motivational, and personal growth conferences and has worked with several area churches and businesses assisting in developing growth plans for organizations and employees. Amy lives life big and with intention. She actively lives out her faith, loves spending time with her husband of 30+ years, her children, three grandchildren, kayaking, hiking, landscaping, reading, and listening to loud music.

Carly has extensive experience in administration in various healthcare settings and in working directly with youth in various teaching capacities. She has been an integral part of the LifeWorks leadership team since it was founded. Carly concentrates on overseeing day-to-day operations that exist behind the scenes to bring you the best care possible. She is very passionate about providing excellent overall care for our clients and team. Carly is available to answer a multitude of questions from what to expect from the counseling process, questions regarding insurance, and payment options. She holds confidentiality in the highest regard and is focused on bringing ease to the process of setting up counseling. Carly provides direct administrative care to the Executive Director, oversees the entire administrative team, and brings positive energy and creativity to our team culture. She enjoys spending time with her family, serving the church, is very active in the community, and loves the outdoors.

Mackenzie initially joined the LifeWorks team as an administrative assistant to our office manager while she pursued her counseling education at Grace College and Theological Seminary and Huntington University. Mackenzie serves as LifeWorks Clinical Director where she oversees the direct clinical care of our clients and provides clinical supervision for our Counseling Professional Team and internship students. Mackenzie is passionate about the overall care of our clients and is a resourceful administrative leader who also works directly with insurance companies to gain the best possible financial outcome for you and your family. As a clinician, Mackenzie focuses her counseling working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. Mackenzie has extensive experience with adolescents and children who have had mental health inpatient experiences and with troubled youth. Mackenzie is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and credentialed as an EMDR therapist through EMDR Consulting. She is in her third year as a doctoral student advanced intern. Mackenzie loves spending time with her family and friends, being creative in designing things, running, fitness, reading academia, and for pleasure, is active in her local church, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Child Care/Preschool.

Andrea joined our Administrative Team during a major transition nearly two years ago and has made a tremendous impact on the organization and team. Andrea comes to us after serving in a variety of business, human resources, and educational capacities, all of which she has worked with people with high regard and a servant’s heart. She brings to our team both a business mindset and a passion to serve others. Andrea is the voice behind LifeWorks Fort Wayne and often the first contact our clients have when entering the counseling process. While she continues to make a positive impact on the LifeWorks culture, Andrea brings her own style and detail to the role. She will be able to answer questions for both new and existing clients regarding appointments, insurance, and accounts. Andrea is a devoted wife and mother of two boys, loves her family, is an avid reader, enjoys hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and her newest adventure… mountain biking.

Jodi has been working with the Warsaw team since its opening in 2017 and is our full-time administrative professional. Jodi has an extensive history of service to her church and the people of the communities in which she has lived. She is our voice behind the Warsaw office, a cornerstone of our team, and a passionate advocate for providing excellent client care. Jodi is eager to help navigate the counseling process to make it smooth for each client who enters our doors. She assists in the client management process both directly and behind the scenes, carefully matching new clients with the therapists who best fit their needs and answering a variety of questions that clients may have. She is an encourager to our clients and team, loves spending time with her family including her grandchildren, interior design, and knitting.

Shameka recently joined our team after achieving her Master’s in Counseling Education from Purdue University, Fort Wayne where she earned the Counselor of Excellence Award in Practicum Studies. She works with marriage/couples, families, adolescents, single moms, and women, utilizing the Person-Centered Therapeutic approach, Emotional-Focused Therapies, and Gottman Institute therapy. Shameka believes in empathetic listening by fully valuing the client’s experiences, supportive processing through self-awareness, immediacy, and helping the client come to natural solutions for their presenting issues. She is an inspirational speaker, Ordained Minister since 2011, and an engaging writer/author. Shameka is a wife and a mother of three children, enjoys family time, personal time, shopping for fun, living her life to be an encouragement to others, being true to herself, and honoring Christ in every aspect of her life.

Jennifer joined the LifeWorks Counseling Professional Team in Fort Wayne two years ago and brings so many positive skillsets to our team and organization. She studied at Indiana University, Fort Wayne earning her Master of Science in Counseling Education, and obtained her Associate’s license shortly after. Jennifer has gained invaluable experience working with a variety of clinical issues including depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma. She is uniquely qualified to work with families, teens, and young children involved with the Department of Child Services and Juvenile Probation. Jennifer is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, level one of the Gottman Method Therapy focusing on couples counseling, and is a credentialed EMDR Therapist. Jennifer works with children of all ages, teens, families, and marriages/couples. She enjoys hanging out with her family, traveling, and going on walks in local parks.

Teresa joined our team in the Fall of 2019. After being devoted to her husband and family, she embarked on a journey to pursue her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Huntington University and is currently pursuing her Associate’s license. Teresa primarily works with marriages, couples, and teens, in a variety of areas including boundaries, communication, trauma, and addictions. Before coming to LifeWorks, Teresa worked at Hope Alive serving as a trauma and addictions counselor and is a credentialed EMDR Therapist. She has a passion for walking with wounded people during what often seems like the worst, most broken, and hopeless time of their life and work toward restoration, reconciliation, forgiveness, and hope. Teresa has been married for 34 years, has 6 grown children, and 9 grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family and riding her Harley all over the country.

LifeWorks welcomes Rachel Hartman to our team who has a myriad of life experiences. Before pursuing her counseling degree, Rachel served as an ICU cardiac nurse and as a Captain in the United States Air Force where she also served as an ICU nurse. In 2017, Rachel achieved her Master of Arts in Addictions Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University and this spring she completed her coursework for Mental Health Counseling. Rachel has experience in facilitating Intensive Out-Patient groups and is certified in MRT, a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach that leads to enhanced moral reasoning, better decision-making, and more appropriate behavior. Her other experience includes working with clients who suffer from personality disorders, depression and anxiety, trauma, grief, and family systems sessions involving substance use disorders. Rachel has a deep passion to serve and help clients move towards a healthier, whole life. Eventually, Rachel would like to incorporate pets into therapy sessions and obtain her EMDR credential.

In her free time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and eight children and is looking forward to becoming a grandmother next year. She also enjoys yoga, playing board games and cards, outdoor activities, interior decorating and design, painting, and knitting.

Lon has been an integral member of the LifeWorks team for 13 years. He incorporates over 34 years of working with teens and families in a variety of capacities into his professional practice. Lon also has a ministerial education background, is a dynamic Pastor, and has expertise in working with marriages/couples. Lon works with teens, men, women, couples, and families desiring them to experience personal healing in their relationships. He has extensive experience in working with others towards personal growth, those who struggle with pornography and addiction issues. He believes that through improved communication and knowing balance in their lives physically, spiritually, and emotionally, each person has the potential to live a more complete and satisfying life. Lon is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, visiting family, and loves warm weather.

Sharon’s clinical areas of expertise are with relationships and couples, divorce and visitation issues, stepfamilies, co-parenting, childhood sexual abuse and trauma, anxiety and depression, parenting, grief and loss, and coping with a loved one involved in addiction. She also enjoys working with and teaching college students reserving a special place for the college student who struggles to find their way. Sharon has an engaging sense of humor which brings comfort to challenging relationship dynamics and comfort. She is well-skilled in Gottman Method Therapy and is a fully certified EMDR Therapist. Sharon loves her family, her two girls, football, fantasy football, music, going to concerts, and cherishes a good laugh.

Hannah recently graduated from Concordia University Irvine. She brings high energy and a positive attitude to our team culture with a charisma her clients and families have come to really appreciate. Hannah works with clients of all ages and backgrounds and is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and young adults. Hannah is intentional about creating a safe environment for her clients to find their voice and express themselves freely. She helps cultivate individuality and utilizes multiple Play Therapy modalities to help children process their emotions and thoughts. Her goal is to continue pursuing an endorsement in Play Therapy. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys reading, writing, binge-watching TV shows, hiking, and trying new and fun restaurants.

Beth graduated from Lincoln Christian University with a Master’s in Counseling and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership. Beth enjoys working with couples, families, individuals, and adolescents and is passionate about helping them improve communication and relational health. Beth and her husband have been involved in ministry for the last 12 years, working with couples, families, and teenagers. Currently, she works in her church with middle school students and leads a women’s group. Beth loves helping people incorporate their faith into their healing process and integrating prayer and scripture within the context of counseling when the client is comfortable doing so.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, kids, and dog. She enjoys playing games, drinking coffee, reading good books, and spending time in genuine conversation. Beth loves the LaPorte area and is super excited to be serving in the community.

Cory joined our team recently to complete his final year of internship before pursuing his licensure in mental health counseling. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Toledo and transferred to Grace College for his graduate program. Cory is drawn to working with individuals and couples who are struggling with relational and life adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, assertiveness, interpersonal boundaries, chronic illness, and spirituality. His passion for helping others has grown out of his own positive experiences with counseling, viewing life challenges as unique opportunities for learning and growth. In his limited spare time, Cory enjoys hiking, biking with his family, and playing the guitar.

Rachel recently joined out team in Warsaw to serve the surrounding areas. She brings a quiet confidence in her passion to help clients learn and appreciate the mind-body connection and integrated health in healing. Utilizing mindfulness skills and self-compassion concepts, she is able to help her clients learn to regulate their emotions and calm their bodies down. Rachel holds the therapeutic relationship in such high regard, creating a relaxed and authentic space for clients to open up and feel safe and heard. In her spare time, Rachel loves spending time with her family and friends, playing board games, hammocking, hiking, and drinking coffee on her balcony.

Shelby joined the LifeWorks team in the Fall of 2019 shortly after she became licensed as a Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from Indiana State University with a Master’s in Social Work and is trained in both Clinical Counseling and Biblical counseling. She has a passion to work with clients who desire to incorporate their faith into the counseling process and has a heart for those exiting incarcerated settings. Shelby primarily works with adults and late adolescents with expertise in areas of childhood and adult trauma, relationship issues, codependency, and addictions. She desires to see others grow into their best self through a holistic counseling approach and the Lord’s healing. Shelby enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and dog, loves nature and camping, hiking, swimming, and biking.

She earned a dual Master’s in Science of Education at Indiana University, Fort Wayne in Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. Prior to pursuing a career in mental health, Kati taught at an alternative school for high-risk youth for 6 years. She is a credentialed EMDR Therapist who works with people of all ages and is passionate about healthy marriages, community service responders, law enforcement officers, and their families. She has a natural gift of bringing a sense of “calm” to those around her. She adores her family and dedicates time serving the youth at her church, staying active in the outdoors, running, biking, and reading for pleasure.

Lauren recently joined our team to complete her final year of internship before pursuing her licensure in mental health counseling. She appreciates that therapy can sometimes be intimidating and works hard to create a calm, inviting environment allowing clients to process freely and openly. Lauren has three years of experience working in a psychiatric hospital where she works with patients experiencing a variety of mental illnesses and challenges. She welcomes working with all ages of clients with different stories, helping them pursue their best life. Lauren loves spending time with her nieces and nephews, baking, gathering with friends and family, being outside kayaking, hiking, and reading a book by the lake.

EJ came to LifeWorks in the Fall of 2019 after a long, meaningful 17 tenure at Warsaw Community Church where he served in Care Ministry, Adult Education, and Pastoral Counseling, and has taught several classes at Grace College & Theological Seminary as an Adjunct Professor. EJ is a wealth of knowledge and passion holding a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Grace College & Theological Seminary, a Master’s in Secondary Education, and a Master’s in Business. EJ enjoys working with marriages/couples, individuals, men, and late teens. He approaches therapy from a Client-Centered paradigm where he is passionate about helping adults who grew up in dysfunctional and abusive homes. EJ has a positively contagious personality to be around, is a former skydiver, loves hunting, reading, his great-grandchildren, and of course, spending time with his wife of 40+ years.

Peggy graduated from Grace College & Theological Seminary and serves as both a Biblical and Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Peggy approaches therapy from a systemic wellness model helping to bring healing in mind, body, soul, and relationships. She primarily works with adults suffering from depression, marital/couple distress, trauma, self-identity conflicts, issues with motivation, and in the area of spiritual healing. Peggy is an integral team member always looking out for others and opportunities to be uplifting and serve. She enjoys being with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She has discovered a passion for overseas missions and loves serving at her church in various capacities.

She earned a dual Master’s in Science of Education at Indiana University, Fort Wayne in Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. Prior to pursuing a career in mental health, Kati taught at an alternative school for high-risk youth for 6 years. She is a credentialed EMDR Therapist who works with people of all ages and is passionate about healthy marriages, community service responders, law enforcement officers, and their families. She has a natural gift of bringing a sense of “calm” to those around her. She adores her family and dedicates time serving the youth at her church, staying active in the outdoors, running, biking, and reading for pleasure.

Beth graduated from Lincoln Christian University with a Master’s in Counseling and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership. Beth enjoys working with couples, families, individuals, and adolescents and is passionate about helping them improve communication and relational health. Beth and her husband have been involved in ministry for the last 12 years, working with couples, families, and teenagers. Currently, she works in her church with middle school students and leads a women’s group. Beth loves helping people incorporate their faith into their healing process and integrating prayer and scripture within the context of counseling when the client is comfortable doing so.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, kids, and dog. She enjoys playing games, drinking coffee, reading good books, and spending time in genuine conversation. Beth loves the LaPorte area and is super excited to be serving in the community.

LifeWorks strives to provide excellent counseling services for our clients by means of a well-trained and compassionate team of Counseling Professionals. We have three Clinical Supervisors in which each team member regularly meets to supervise and assess professional growth and clinical skills. The following three team members serve on this team:

OUR PET VISITORS

Sampson, Canine Visitor
ADA Trained, Certified Level 2

Sampson is our 14-year-old therapy canine who was rescued from the SPCA and adopted May 17th, 2014. He has adjusted to the environment of LifeWorks and enjoys working with both adults and children. Sampson has made a significant impact in working with those in particular who experience anxiety, phobias, and depression. He loves making his rounds in the waiting room greeting everyone who enjoys his company. His calm demeanor and welcoming charm have been a terrific addition to the LifeWorks team. Sampson has been making fewer appearances over the past year due to aging but everyone looks forward to the times he visits.

Bob, Reptile Visitor

Bob is a 16-year-old leopard gecko who has been in the Fort Wayne office since its opening. Bob makes his presence known by the crickets that get free from his cage from time to time. Bob is held multiple times per week by team members and clients and is often visited by many clients. He most often likes to hide in hoodie pockets or on shoulders under long hair. He has been particularly valuable in helping people face the fear of animals. Bob resides in the Executive Director’s office – you can’t miss his bright red heat light. It’s been said by many pet stores that Bob is the oldest leopard gecko known in the area.
