Amy Jo Aldrich, Executive Director, Founder, Clinician

Amy is the original founder of LifeWorks, starting as a dream in her youth. Her 30 year career has been dedicated to children, healthy marriages and families. Prior to serving the greater Fort Wayne area for the past 14 years as a Marriage & Family Therapist, Amy devoted her time teaching in both public and private schools, coaching youth, public speaking, and in administrative leadership in the non-profit sector. Amy is a PREPARE/ENRICH marriage facilitator and has taught master’s level ethics courses in counseling for two universities. She counsels all ages emphasizing family systems within a wellness model that addresses mind, body, and spiritual needs. Amy specializes in Anxiety Disorders and is certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and as a Trauma Consultant. She is currently working on certification through EMDR Consulting. Amy has a passion for working with people who are seeking a healthier, purpose-filled life, empowering families and individuals, working with survivors of traumatic life events, and exploring spiritual issues with people. Amy has also worked with several area businesses assisting in developing growth plans for organizations and employees. She speaks at a variety of professional, motivational, and personal growth conferences. Amy lives life big – she actively lives out her faith, loves spending time with her husband of 29 years and her children and their families, kayaking, hiking, landscaping, reading, and listening to loud music.

Carly has extensive experience in administration in various health care settings and in working directly with youth in various teaching capacities. Carly is often referred to as our “first responder” because she is the first voice behind the LifeWorks team. Carly is very passionate about providing excellent client care and maintaining the most stringent confidentiality. Her compassion for others is evident as she assists each prospective client with the initial call, assuring each person is paired with a counselor best suited to meet his or her needs. Carly is also willing and available to answer a multitude of questions from what to expect from the counseling process, questions regarding insurance, and payment options. She has been an integral part of the LifeWorks’ leadership team since we were founded. Carly enjoys spending time with her family, serving the church, is very active in the community, and loves the outdoors.

Kati originally joined the LifeWorks team as a master’s level intern where she studied couples and family counseling and currently serves as our administrator leader in the Warsaw Office leading a team of 10 counselors and the Warsaw administrative team. Prior to pursuing a career in mental health, Kati taught at an alternative school for high-risk youth for 6 years. She works with all ages and is passionate about healthy marriages, and community service responders, and law enforcement officers and their families. She has a natural gift of bringing a sense of “calm” to those around her. She adores her family and dedicates time serving the youth at her church, staying active in the outdoors, running, biking, and reading for pleasure.

Jodi has been working with the Warsaw team since it’s opening in 2017 and is our full-time administrative professional. Jodi has extensive history of service to her church and the people of the communities in which she has lived. She is the primary voice behind the Warsaw team, carefully matching up people with the best fit therapist, and assisting in the client management process. Jodi is fantastic about answering your questions and is here to serve you. She loves spending time with her family including her grandchildren, interior design, and knitting.

Challis is the newest administrative professional coming to us in June 2019 after serving alongside her husband in full-time ministry for 20 years. Challis is also pursuing a master’s degree in mental health counseling at Huntington University and will be our intern in the fall of 2020 at the Fort Wayne Office. Challis has a tremendous heart for people and for serving. She brings energy, hope, and passion to our team as she seeks opportunities to serve our clients and our team. Challis is one of the voices clients first hear when calling in to set up appointments or to answer questions. She delights in serving you. Challis enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and eating food that she didn’t cook.

Mackenzie initially joined the LifeWorks’ team as an administrative assistant to our office manager while she pursued her counseling education at Grace College and Theological Seminary and Huntington University, achieving licensure in 2018. As an administrative leader, Mackenzie is resourceful in working with you and your insurance company to gain the best possible financial outcome for you and your family. She too is passionate about setting individuals and families up with the best fit counselor.

Becca has been a practicing Marriage & Family Therapist in the Fort Wayne community for nearly 13 years. Becca primarily works with children, adolescents, families, and adults. Her passion for working with children and adolescents began several years ago while working with her church youth group and with troubled youth in the public mental health care setting. Her energetic and caring nature allows her to help address tough issues in the areas of grief, loss, anxiety, depression, behavior concerns, parenting stressors, conflict, and adjustment to life changes. Becca is thoughtful and is a gifted clinician and encourager in dealing with difficult, painful issues. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, praise and worship music, running, edifying others, and playing in the sun and dirt.

Before coming to LifeWorks last fall, Laura has spent the past ten years in community mental health providing hope and healing by serving children, adolescents, adults, and families in both case management and counseling roles. She earned her Bachelors of Social Work in 2008 from Taylor University, and her Masters of Counseling from Huntington University in 2016. Laura has unique experiences in providing therapeutic services and play therapy to children under the age of 7, sand tray therapy to adolescent and adult clients, as well as exploring spiritual concerns.  Laura has a wealth of experience in aiding adults and children having experienced trauma, domestic violence and problems related to addiction, grief and loss, a wide range of behavioral concerns including autism, ADHD, and other sensory integration problems, as well as family and parenting stress and conflict related to a wide range of mental health concerns. She is currently pursuing certification in providing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In her free time, Laura enjoys knitting, spending time with nieces and nephews, reading, antiquing, scrabble… basically perfecting the art of being retirement age.

Lon’s background incorporates over 31 years of working with teens and families in a variety of capacities. He brings his ministerial education and experience as a Pastor to LifeWorks. Lon works with children, adolescents, men, women, couples and families desiring them to experience personal healing and in their relationships. Lon is passionate about working with men’s issues and has experience working with people who struggle with pornography and addiction issues. He believes that through improved communication and knowing balance in their lives physically, spiritually and emotionally, each person has the potential to live a more complete and satisfying life. Lon is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with his family, cooking and visiting family.

Doug has been with LifeWorks’ in different therapeutic capacities over the years and has been serving this community in a variety of areas always focusing on personal growth in people and relationships. Currently, Doug is specifically working with men and women in the area of emotional development and inner healing from trauma life experiences. Doug’s approach to therapy is a combination of Internal Family Systems Therapy, The Immanuel Approach to Healing, and Relational Connection Approach. A prospective client would need to meet with Doug to complete an assessment and determine whether this approach is the best fit. Couples are required to engage in individual counseling until safe, emotional connection skills are learned and able to be expressed. Doug often meets with clients in 2 hour to half-day time blocks. In his spare time, Doug is devoted to serving others, spending time with his family, learning new skills, and meeting with others to encourage and edify.

Kara enjoys working with people and helping them discover what strengths they have and how they can find healing and positive change in their lives. Kara believes it is a true privilege to walk with others through hard times in life and is humbled by the courage people show as they work towards healing. She works with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. Kara has worked overseas with survivors of human trafficking and advocates for education and healing for issues related to societal impact and personal trauma. Kara takes special care to meet her clients where they are at emotionally and helps them move to a place of wholeness and healing. Outside her professional career, Kara enjoys camping, reading, spending time with family, and traveling to different places in the US and around the world.

Sharon has been working in the mental health field for over 20 years and brings a savvy and seasoned approach to her clients. She works in both the Fort Wayne & Warsaw offices and approaches counseling from a systemic vantage point. Sharon’s clinical areas of expertise are with relationships and couples, divorce and visitation issues, step-families and co-parenting, childhood sexual abuse and trauma, anxiety and depression, parenting, grief and loss, and coping with a loved-one involved in an addiction. She also enjoys working with and teaching college students reserving a special place for the college student who struggles to find their way. Sharon has an engaging sense of humor which brings comfort to challenging relationship dynamics and comfort. She is well skilled in the Gottman approach to relationships and is completing extensive certification in EMDR Therapy. Sharon loves her family, her two girls, football, fantasy football, music, going to concerts, and cherishes a good laugh.

Bobbie is a master’s level clinical mental health counselor working towards full licensure. She sees clients at both the Fort Wayne & Warsaw locations. Bobbie entered the professional counseling world after raising her family. Throughout her life, she gave spiritual guidance to many young women who struggled with life issues. She worked twelve years as a lay minister/mentor for an area non-profit counseling agency until earning her master’s degree in 2017. Bobbie is comfortable counseling from a Christian perspective if the client desires. Bobbie’s strengths are helping people who may not have a sense of “self” or who are exploring “who they are.” Bobbie believes in counseling the whole person towards healing adverse experiences which reside in the mind, body, and spirit. Counseling from a person-centered approach, Bobbie provides a place of belonging for clients to work through the results of pain in their lives. As a lifetime learner, she will be earning an extension certification in EMDR in the coming months of 2019. Bobbie enjoys spending time with her husband, grown children and granddaughters. Together they enjoy photography, international missions work, finding great restaurants, and relaxing at home.

Cheri brings experience and versatility to our team in working with a variety of populations. Cheri has degrees from both Indiana-Purdue University and Ball State in which she focused experience working in the area of relationship dynamics, codependency issues, parents, empowering teens, and dealing with phase of life issues. She values the therapeutic relationship as one of trust and collaboration. Cheri believes the main foundation of effective therapy is her ability and willingness to meet clients where they are at and to form therapy around client needs. She enjoys staying active in being creative, baking, make crafts, pottery, and spending time with her family and pets.

Marcos joined our team in the fall of 2019 as our master’s level intern for the year. Marcos is passionate in working primarily with adolescents and adults utilizing the Adlerian approach to counseling. Marcos joins with his clients easily, believing each person has what it takes within to overcome their hurts and live the best life possible. Marcos is accepting new clients on a sliding fee scale at a reduced cost.

Beth has been working in a variety of capacities in the mental health field for over a decade. She earned her master’s in counseling from The Ohio State University and currently serves as an adjunct professor at Purdue Global University. Beth has experience in community mental health as an addictions counselor treating various mental and emotional health issues in a university setting. She enjoys working with adults and adolescents helping them become a better version of themselves. Currently, Beth is working on an extensive certification in EMDR Therapy assisting individuals with embedded depression, anxiety, and trauma. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cheering her kids on in a variety of sports and activities, making crafts, and running.

Dr. Behling has clinical experience in/out-patient clinical settings treating individuals, marriages and families. Her clinical specialty areas includes serving those from multicultural backgrounds, serving our homeless population who suffer from substance abuse and/or severe mental health needs. She has experience working with trauma, mood disorders including depression and anxiety, marital and family issues, premarital counseling, and substance abuse. Dr. Behling earned two Bachelors degrees, one in Biblical Studies with a Missions emphasis from Southern California Seminary and a second bachelors in Intercultural Ministries with New Tribes Mission. She has a master’s in Counseling Psychology and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Southern California Seminary on the west coast. Dr. Behling also teaches psychology courses at Grace College & Theological Seminary and Ivy Tech Community College. She enjoys being a wife, mother, chicken owner and garden grower. She loves to run and play with her kids and really enjoys a really good cup of coffee with the people she loves.

Carrie graduation from Grace College & Theological Seminary with a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She works with children, adolescents, college students, parents, families, and couples. Carrie’s passion areas are working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, providing parenting education, fostering family bonding skills, improving communication and cohesiveness in relationships, and working with those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. She has specialized certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Carries loves to celebrate holidays, be outdoors with her dogs and husband, travel, drinking lots of coffee, training her lab to be a therapy dog, and nerding out with her favorite fandoms like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Harry Potter.

Beth graduated from Lincoln Christian University with a Masters in Counseling and also has a second Master’s in Organizational Leadership. Beth enjoys working with couples, families, individuals, and adolescents and is passionate about helping them improve communication and relational health. Beth and her husband have been involved in ministry for the last 9 years, working with couples, families, and teenagers. Currently, she works in her church with middle school students, and leads a women’s group. Beth loves helping people incorporate their faith into their healing process, and integrating prayer and scripture within the context of counseling when the client is comfortable doing so.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, kids, and dog. She enjoys playing games, drinking coffee, reading good books, and spending time in genuine conversation. Beth loves the LaPorte area and is super excited to be serving in the community.

Shelby joined the LifeWorks team in the fall of 2019 shortly after she became licensed as a Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from Indiana State University with a master’s in social work and is trained in both clinical counseling and Biblical counseling. She has a passion for working with clients who are in incarcerated setting. She is currently providing counseling in our Warsaw office and in a nearby jail where she runs process groups and provides individual counseling. Shelby primarily works with adults and late adolescents with expertise in areas of childhood and adult trauma, relationship issues, codependency, and addictions. She desires to see others grow into their best self through a holistic counseling approach and the Lord’s healing. Shelby enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, and in nature camping, hiking, swimming, and biking.

Peggy graduated from Grace College & Theological Seminary and is LifeWorks’ exclusive Pastoral Counselor. Peggy approaches therapy from a systemic wellness model helping to bring healing in mind, body, soul, and relationships. Peggy has worked exclusively as a Pastoral Counselor for nearly 9 years and enjoys being part of the LifeWorks’ team. She primarily works with adults suffering from depression, couple distress, trauma, self-identity conflicts, issues with motivation, and in the area of spiritual healing. Peggy enjoys being with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She has discovered a passion for overseas missions and loves serving at her church in various capacities.

She counsels all ages emphasizing family systems within a wellness model that addresses mind, body, and spiritual needs. Amy specializes in Anxiety Disorders and is certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and as a Trauma Consultant. She is currently working on certification through EMDR Consulting. Amy has a passion for working with people who are seeking a healthier, purpose-filled life, empowering families and individuals, working with survivors of traumatic life events, and exploring spiritual issues with people. Amy lives life big – she actively lives out her faith, loves spending time with her husband of 29 years and her children and their families, kayaking, hiking, landscaping, reading, and listening to loud music.

Understanding how we all struggle in life allows Saundra to help others work through their past hurts and overcome obstacles. Saundra provides a safe environment to explore the past to help others move forward with healing and strength to embrace the future. Saundra received a B.A. in Psychology from Purdue University, a M.A. in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, her M.A. in Counseling from Colorado Christian University under the direction of Dr. Larry Crabb, and masters endorsement from Huntington University. Saundra has twenty-five years of experience as a counselor and case manager in the counseling field, serving at a Psychiatric Hospital in the Philadelphia area and in private practice. She also has experience in equine facilitated counseling and works with children, adolescents, adults and couples. She is thoughtful in her approach and a respecter of person’s integrating both science and faith as appropriate. Currently, she is pursuing a comprehensive certification in EMDR Therapy. Saundra enjoys spending time with her family, serves faithfully in her church and the community, and loves to travel.

Beth graduated from Lincoln Christian University with a Masters in Counseling and also has a second Master’s in Organizational Leadership. Beth enjoys working with couples, families, individuals, and adolescents and is passionate about helping them improve communication and relational health. Beth and her husband have been involved in ministry for the last 9 years, working with couples, families, and teenagers. Currently, she works in her church with middle school students, and leads a women’s group. Beth loves helping people incorporate their faith into their healing process, and integrating prayer and scripture within the context of counseling when the client is comfortable doing so.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, kids, and dog. She enjoys playing games, drinking coffee, reading good books, and spending time in genuine conversation. Beth loves the LaPorte area and is super excited to be serving in the community.

OUR CANINE ASSISTANT

Sampson
Sampson is our 10 year old therapy canine who was rescued from the SPCA and adopted May 17th, 2014. He has adjusted to the environment of LifeWorks” and enjoys working with both adults and children. Sampson has already made a significant impact in working with those suffering from anxiety, phobias, depression, and adjustment issues. He loves making his rounds in the waiting room greeting everyone who enjoys his company. His calm demeanor and welcoming charm have been a terrific addition to the LifeWorks’ team. Sampson’s therapeutic presence is available by appointment only.
