Amy is the original founder of LifeWorks, starting as a dream during her graduate school years. Her 35-year career has been dedicated to serving children, healthy marriages and families. Prior to serving the greater Fort Wayne area for the past 16 years as a Marriage & Family Therapist, Amy devoted her time in education, coaching, public speaking, and administrative leadership in both the public and the non-profit sectors. She counsels all ages emphasizing family systems within a wellness model that addresses mind, body, and spiritual needs. She specializes in Anxiety Disorders, is certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, a Trauma Consultant, and is trained and certified in EMDR. She has a passion for working with people who are seeking a healthier, purpose-filled life, empowering families and individuals, working with survivors of traumatic life events, and exploring spiritual issues.

Amy has also worked with several area businesses assisting in developing growth plans for organizations and employees. She speaks at a variety of professional, motivational, and personal growth conferences all over the country, challenging her audiences to be actively involved while engaging them in laughter and the opportunity for growth. Amy lives life big – she actively lives out her faith, loves spending time with her husband of 33 years, her children, adores her grands, loves the church, and enjoys kayaking, hiking, landscaping, reading, and listening to loud music.

Shameka attended Purdue University, Fort Wayne where she earned the Counselor of Excellence Award in Practicum Studies. She works with marriage/couples, families, adolescents, single moms, and women, utilizing the Person-Centered Therapeutic approach, Emotional-Focused Therapies, and Gottman Institute therapy. Shameka believes in empathetic listening by fully valuing the client’s experiences, supportive processing through self-awareness, immediacy, and helping the client come to natural solutions for their presenting issues. She is an inspirational speaker, Ordained Minister since 2011, and an engaging writer and author. Shameka is a wife and a mother of three children, enjoys family time, personal time, shopping for fun, living her life to be an encouragement to others, being true to herself, and honoring Christ in every aspect of her life.

Jennifer brings many positive skillsets to our team and organization. Studying at Indiana University, Fort Wayne, she earned her Master of Science in Counseling Education. Jennifer has gained invaluable experience working with a variety of clinical issues including depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma. She is uniquely qualified to work with families, teens, and young children involved with the Department of Child Services and Juvenile Probation. Jennifer is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, level one of the Gottman Method Therapy focusing on couples counseling and is a trained EMDR Therapist. Jennifer works with children of all ages, teens, families, and marriages/couples. Jennifer enjoys hanging out with her family and dogs, traveling, and going on walks in local parks.

Kasey came to LifeWorks in the fall of 2023 and has made a lasting impact in such a short time. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and earned her degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Kasey approached her clients with genuine positive regard believing it takes just one person to change the trajectory of another’s life for the better. She desires people to discover their true value and hope for their lives, believing they can change their future for the better. Kasey works with various ages, populations, individuals and family’s to help move them in the direction of lasting change. Kasey loves spending time with her husband, growing plants, photography, traveling, and seeing new movies.

Dr. Burg is a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed mental health counselor with more than 30 years of experience. He works with individuals, couples, and families experiencing a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and sexual dysfunctions. Dr. Burg and his wife of 25+ years enjoy a wonderful and fulfilling marriage, and he is devoted to helping couples build healthier relationships. Toward this goal, he and his wife have published more than 700 newspaper columns over 15 years on healthy marriages. He has also co-edited three books on the intersection of medicine, psychology, and Orthodox Christian theology. Dr. Burg is a full-time faculty member at Purdue University Fort Wayne where he teaches in the Counselor Education Master’s Degree Program. He and his wife are active in their church, have four children, and enjoy being outdoors, cycling around Fort Wayne, and hiking in the woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Beth graduated from Lincoln Christian University with a Master’s in Counseling and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership. Beth enjoys working with couples, families, individuals, and adolescents and is passionate about helping them improve communication and relational health. Beth and her husband have been involved in ministry for the last 15 years, working with couples, families, and teenagers. Currently, she works in her church with middle school students and leads a women’s group. Beth loves helping people incorporate their faith into their healing process and integrating prayer and scripture within the context of counseling when the client is comfortable doing so. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, kids, and dog. She enjoys playing games, drinking coffee, reading good books, and spending time in genuine conversation. Beth loves the LaPorte area and is super excited to be serving in the community.

Rachel is a Licensed Social Worker pursuing her license in Clinical Social Work. She serves Warsaw and surrounding areas bringing a quiet confidence in her passion to help clients learn and appreciate the mind-body connection and integrated health in healing. Utilizing mindfulness skills and self-compassion concepts she is able to help her clients learn to regulate their emotions and calm their body down. Rachel holds the therapeutic relationship at such high regard, creating a relaxed and authentic space for clients to open up and feel safe and heard. She is uniquely gifted the trauma-focused yoga which we hope to bring to LifeWorks soon. In her spare time Rachel loves spending time with her family and friends, playing board games, hammocking, hiking, and drinking coffee on her balcony.

Lon has been an integral member of the LifeWorks team for nearly 15 years. He incorporates over 36 years of working with teens and families in a variety of capacities into his professional practice. Lon also has a ministerial education background, is a dynamic Pastor, and has expertise in working with marriages/couples. Lon works with teens, men, women, couples, and families desiring them to experience personal healing in their relationships. He has extensive experience in working with individual and couples towards personal growth, those who struggle with pornography and addiction issues. He believes that through improved communication and knowing balance in their lives physically, spiritually, and emotionally, each person has the potential to live a more complete and satisfying life. Lon is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, visiting family, and loves warm weather.

Kerry has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2004 and has worked with a wide variety of clients in many diverse settings. She enjoys working with clients of all ages and life stages, but has a particular fondness for young adults, engaged and married couples, new parents, and family groups.  She is an “out of the box” thinker and enjoys challenging and encouraging clients to seek non-traditional solutions to commonly experienced issues.  She is passionate about helping people improve their relationships with the people in their lives and especially loves the process of working with clients through all types of conflict.  She is a curious, lifelong learner who enjoys meeting new people and having new experiences. Kerry is a friendly, outgoing introvert who finds people and their unique stories endlessly fascinating, and she has a knack for making those around her feel heard and valued. She loves spending time with her husband of 25 years, her two school-aged daughters, her church family and friends, and the many animals that live on her small hobby farm. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking, and riding horses, but equally enjoys being indoors, reading, refinishing furniture, and trying out new recipes on her family and friends.

Sharon has been working in the mental health field for nearly 25 years and brings a savvy and seasoned approach to her clients. She works in both the Fort Wayne & Warsaw offices and approaches counseling from a systemic vantage point. Sharon’s clinical areas of expertise are with relationships and couples, divorce and visitation issues, stepfamilies, co-parenting, childhood sexual abuse and trauma, anxiety and depression, parenting, grief and loss, and coping with a loved one involved in addiction. She also enjoys working with and teaching college students reserving a special place for the college student who struggles to find their way. Sharon has an engaging sense of humor which brings comfort to challenging relationship dynamics and comfort. She is well skilled in Gottman Method Therapy and is a fully certified EMDR Therapist and a consultant in training. Sharon loves her family, her two girls, football, fantasy football, music, going to concerts, and cherishes a good laugh.

Kati has been with the LifeWorks team for over 10 years in both administrative and counseling professional roles. She earned a dual Master’s in Science of Education at Indiana University in Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. Prior to pursuing a career in mental health, Kati taught at an alternative school for high-risk youth for 6 years. She is a trained EMDR Therapist who works with people of all ages and is passionate about healthy marriages, community service responders, law enforcement officers, and their families. She has a natural gift of bringing a sense of “calm” to those around her. She adores her family and dedicates time serving the youth at her church, has a gift of prayer, staying active in the outdoors, running, biking, and reading for pleasure.

EJ came to LifeWorks in the Fall of 2019 after a long, meaningful 17 tenure at Warsaw Community Church where he served in Care Ministry, Adult Education, and Pastoral Counseling, and has taught several classes at Grace College & Theological Seminary as an Adjunct Professor. EJ has Master’s degrees in Secondary Education, Clinical Psychology from Grace College & Theological Seminary, and a Master’s in Business. EJ enjoys working with marriages/couples, individuals, men, and late teens. He approaches therapy from a Client-Centered paradigm where he is passionate about helping adults who grew up in dysfunctional and abusive homes. EJ has a positively contagious personality to be around, is a former skydiver, loves hunting, reading, his great-grandchildren, and of course, spending time with his wife of 40+ years.

Peggy graduated from Grace College & Theological Seminary and serves as both a Biblical and Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Peggy approaches therapy from a systemic wellness model helping to bring healing in mind, body, soul, and relationships. She primarily works with adults suffering from depression, marital/couple distress, trauma, self-identity conflicts, issues with motivation, and in the area of spiritual healing. Peggy is an integral team member always looking out for others and opportunities to be uplifting and serve. She enjoys being with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She has discovered a passion for overseas missions and loves serving at her church in various capacities.
